Inside The Jesus Nation’s Growing International Ministry 

From physical church communities to international visitor programmes and digital ministry, ECG – The Jesus Nation Church has developed an international network connecting Christians across national borders. 

Founded by Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, the ministry describes its mission as preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ while developing a worldwide Christian community centred on faith, spiritual growth and service. 

A Church Across Borders 

ECG – The Jesus Nation Church states that its international network extends across more than 70 countries through branches, clusters, home cells and online congregations. 

The movement traces its beginnings to Mzuzu, Malawi, in 2010, before expanding into other African nations and subsequently further internationally. 

Today its headquarters are in Lilongwe, Malawi, while local and digital communities connect worshippers internationally. 

From Malawi to an International Community 

The development of ECG illustrates how modern Christian movements can operate simultaneously through physical churches and digital platforms. 

Its international programmes bring people together through worship services, teaching, conferences and specialist programmes. 

The Jesus Nation’s current programme network includes International Visitors Programme – Face to Face, Online International Visitors Programme, International School of Seers, Youth Ministry and Woman on Fire. 

These programmes provide different routes through which people can participate in the wider ministry. 

Ministry in the Digital Age 

Digital ministry has become particularly significant. 

Services and teaching can now reach people regardless of whether they are physically located near an ECG branch. 

The Jesus Nation’s dedicated digital platform brings programmes, events and online ministry into one environment, while services and teaching are also distributed through major social and video platforms. 

This hybrid model — physical congregations alongside online communities — has allowed the ministry to maintain connections across countries and continents. 

Developing the Next Generation 

The international ministry is not limited to conventional church services. 

Youth programmes, women’s ministry, leadership development and educational programmes have become part of the wider ecosystem. 

The International School of Seers, for example, celebrated a graduating class reported by the ministry as comprising 222 graduates representing more than 70 nations. 

Youth Ministry is focused on helping younger Christians develop faith, leadership and purpose, while Woman on Fire provides gatherings and mentorship directed towards women. 

Shepherd Bushiri’s International Ministry 

At the centre of the movement is its founder, Prophet Shepherd Bushiri. 

From its beginnings in Malawi, Bushiri’s ministry has developed an international audience through preaching, conferences, leadership programmes and digital communication. 

The church’s own history records expansion beyond Malawi beginning in the early 2010s, including the establishment of communities elsewhere in Africa before wider international growth. 

More than a decade later, the movement continues to combine its Malawian roots with an international outlook. 

One Community Across Nations 

Technology has changed what an international church can look like. 

A congregation is no longer necessarily defined solely by a building or geographical location.
